Day 3 - Stunning Salamanca

Hola!
After breakfast, we boarded the coach and headed north to Salamanca. We started with a bit of free time to wander around and shop on Calle Toro and Calle Zamora.

When there's time to shop, there's time to find the biggest sweets around!

We interviewed the locals in Plaza Mayor to find out some details about the city. They were very helpful and flattered that we spoke to them in Spanish.

The Casa De Las Conchas is now being used as the city's main library. What a beautiful inside and outside!

The Universidad was quite picturesque (and plateresque!). It is the oldest one in Spain and the third oldest in the world still in operation, built in 1134.

Finally, we climbed the cathedral of Salamanca and were treated to some lovely views.

Upon exiting the cathedral, we sat down for a moment and were treated to a surprise performance by La Tuna Universitaria de Salamanca. Originally these students would perform in order to earn money and food, but now it is just done to keep the tradition alive.

Let our students give you a brief tour of Salamanca!

Finally we had a clear night for some beautiful stargazing. Look at the view from just outside our lodging!

Tomorrow we're back to doing activities in and around the Gredos centre. Buenas noches!
