Day 5 - Amazing Avila

Hola!
Our last day started with a frenzy of breakfast, cleaning and packing. We then quickly boarded the coach to the historic walled city of Avila. We took a tour of the stone walls, had lunch and then quickly headed to the airport. Everyone was exhausted but fulfilled. It was great to get home, but some were even asking to stay longer!

Until the next trip! Buenas noches!

Day 4 - Gredos Galore

Hola!
Another busy today filled with activities in and around the Gredos Centre. We woke up to some amazing weather, and absolutely had to take advantage. After breakfast we went for a brief nature walk, followed by swinging through the trees. High speed movement combined with fearsome heights was an exhilarating combination!

After yet another delicious lunch, we split back into our groups for the rest of the activities we missed from Monday.

After dinner we were treated to some performances in our talent show.

Enjoy a quick clip of what we were up to today!

Tomorrow it's off to Avila and then the airport. Buenas noches!

Day 3 - Stunning Salamanca

Hola!
After breakfast, we boarded the coach and headed north to Salamanca. We started with a bit of free time to wander around and shop on Calle Toro and Calle Zamora.

When there's time to shop, there's time to find the biggest sweets around!

We interviewed the locals in Plaza Mayor to find out some details about the city. They were very helpful and flattered that we spoke to them in Spanish.

The Casa De Las Conchas is now being used as the city's main library. What a beautiful inside and outside!

The Universidad was quite picturesque (and plateresque!). It is the oldest one in Spain and the third oldest in the world still in operation, built in 1134.

Finally, we climbed the cathedral of Salamanca and were treated to some lovely views.

Upon exiting the cathedral, we sat down for a moment and were treated to a surprise performance by La Tuna Universitaria de Salamanca. Originally these students would perform in order to earn money and food, but now it is just done to keep the tradition alive.

Let our students give you a brief tour of Salamanca!

Finally we had a clear night for some beautiful stargazing. Look at the view from just outside our lodging!

Tomorrow we're back to doing activities in and around the Gredos centre. Buenas noches!

Day 2 - Grandiose Gredos

Hola!
We awoke this morning to some chilly but crisp weather. Not quite cold enough to keep us from using the facilities, though!

Breakfast was fruit, cereal, eggs and some hot chocolate. Perfect for keeping that morning chill away!

Before partaking in our next activities, there were some Spanish lessons!

The activities were numerous and varied. Some students were busy making Spanish omelettes.

Others prepared for some potentially rain soaked horseback riding.

Others went for a walk around the village, drank some more hot chocolate and learned to play the card game of Los Seises.

Others went on some soggy mountain bike rides.

Others were practising their archery skills.

Lunch was delicious paella and dinner was our homemade Spanish omelettes with some spaghetti bolognaise. This was followed by some much needed downtime.

Enjoy a quick clip of today's activities!

Tomorrow we're off to Salamanca. Buenas noches!
